How I lost 3.6lbs in 5 days by following this 1 rule

No joke! One hundred ounces of water, or more, a day! 

Last week, I decided to take action in my life and with my health and decided that drinking more water per day was a good place to start. I promised myself that I would drink at least 64 ounces of water a day but learned quickly that I could drink so much more! At the end of Day 1, I had consumed in excess of 100 ounces of water, and it really wasn’t difficult. So, I decided that 100 ounces of water a day was my target goal going forward and went to bed happy and hydrated. On Day 2, I consumed in excess of 100 ounces again and while the trips to the rest room were sometimes inconvenient (especially if you are stuck in Atlanta traffic!), I noticed that I was not groggy, tired, or moody by mid-afternoon, and I felt pretty darn good. Days 3 and 4 rolled by and it was much of the same…..start my day with a 16.9 ounce bottle of water and continue drinking throughout the rest of the day and evening until bedtime.

On Day 5, I decided to hop on the scale and, WHOA!!!! I had dropped 3.6 pounds! (Can you hear the choir singing? I did!) Talk about feeling motivated. I was on top of the world…..and I felt that way too! I noticed I had much more mental clarity, I was not fatigued and cranky at different points throughout the day, I slept better at night, and I was BOUNCED out of bed in the morning. Consistent hydration throughout the day also affected the way I ate and I wasn’t snacking mindlessly throughout the day. Instead, when I felt hungry, I drank more water (and sometimes herbal, decaffeinated tea) and my hunger dissipated quickly after just the first few sips.

I am now well into Week 2 of my “Drink Like a Viking” experiment and I still feel fabulous and energized. The stiffness I had been feeling in my joints when I first got out of bed in the morning, or when I stood up after being seated at my desk for a long period of time, has diminished dramatically and I feel like I am moving better. I am now on Day 10 of my journey and I’m not quitting. So, if you want to do something quick and easy to jump start your journey to better health and fitness and to kick start your program, I say…..DRINK LIKE A VIKING and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!!!
